Roads Questions
The secondary Roads Section oversees Federal-Aid for county roadway; transportation enhancement and safe routes to school programs and projects; emergency relief; and public lands highway projects. The Section administers the Federal soft-match, Recreation Roads, and Public Lands Highway programs. This Section represents the Local Projects Division on the HRRR and HSIP safety committees. Determine which project requests to accept. Responsible for programming reports; tracking Federal funds; maintaining and updating project cost estimates; providing information for the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP); ensuring that design standards are followed; ensuring compliance with the LPA Guidelines Manual for Federal-Aid Projects; reviewing and approving design exceptions and relaxation to standards requests; reviewing and approving public-interest letters/findings; administering projects from inception to close-out; deciding questions of eligibility and reimbursement; and providing status reports. The State Recreation Road Fund is administered by NDOR with the approval of the Governor for the construction and maintenance of dustless-surface roads which are designated as State Recreation Roads. These roads, designated by the Game and Parks Commission, give direct and immediate access to, or are located within state parks, state recreation areas, or other recreational or historical areas.
