Responsibilities
The Urban Section is responsible for all Federal-aid eligible street and roadway projects in first Class cities, Lincoln and Omaha. This includes three Metropolitan Planning Organizations: Responsibilities of the Urban Section include the following: Determining which project requests to accept; programming reports; tracking Federal funds; maintaining and updating project cost estimates; providing information for the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP); ensuring that design standards are followed; ensuring compliance with the LPA Guidelines Manual for Federal-Aid Projects; reviewing and approving design exceptions and relaxation to standards requests; reviewing and approving public-interest letters/findings; administering projects from inception to close-out; deciding questions of eligibility and reimbursement; and providing status reports.
