Notice to Seeding Contractors:

Due to the current drought, mulching materials for seeding have been difficult to impossible for contractors to obtain. Hay producers prefer selling to livestock producers instead of for highway construction purposes. The AGC/NDOR Seeding Committee discussed mulch alternatives at the August 16th Meeting. The NDOR reviewed and approved the alternatives listed in the attachment. These alternatives were also reviewed and approved by the FHWA.

Effective immediately, these alternatives are available for use in lieu of the normal mulch materials for the 2012 and 2013 construction seasons.

Notice to Concrete Paving Contractors:

NDOR has developed a draft specification to allow the use of local aggregates to produce a suitable concrete mixture. This mix - known as Class 47BR - is intended as an economical alternative to our Standard Class 47B. The class 47BR is not a recipe mix and requires that a mix design and trial batch be made as part of its use.
