ANIMAL-RELATED

In 2013, Nebraska reported animal-related vehicle crashes:

  • 2398 reported animal-related vehicle crashes, a decrease of 17.7% from the previous year.
  • 2,212 property damage animal-related vehicle crashes.
  • 185 injuries caused by animal-related vehicle crashes.
  • One fatality due to a deer/vehicle crash.
  • The economic costs in 2013 for crashes involving animals was $24,657,100* (not each fatal crash), per nonfatal disabling injury (A) (not each injury crash), and per property damage crash (including minor injuries, B & C).
  • 92% of all the animal-related vehicle crashes were property damage only crashes.
