BREATH ALCOHOL TESTING (BAT) MOBILE VEHICLE

The Breath Alcohol Testing Mobile Vehicle, known as the “BAT Mobile,” was purchased with Federal 402 funds by the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS). The BAT Mobile was designed to provide:

• On-the-scene Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) processing center for vehicle checkpoints or
  selective enforcement.
• Reduce law enforcement travel time and costs while improving DWI processing efficiency.
• Provide visible educational opportunities for community efforts and displays.
• Provide deterrent effects in reducing incidences of DWI and alcohol-related crashes.
• The BATmobile is available to any state, county, or municipal law enforcement agency.

The BAT Mobile is equipped with the following equipment:

• 7.3 Liter Diesel Engine
• Automatic Transmission
• 161” Wheelbase Aluminum Module
• Dual Heavy Duty Batteries
• 6000 Watt Generator
• Surge Proof Electrical System/with Monitors
• Emergency Light System
• Light Bars and Siren
• Two-way Radio
• Temporary Prisoner Holding Facility
• Unit Mounted Floodlights
• Traffic Cones
• Sink/Refrigerator/Toilet

To reserve the BAT Mobile to set up at a location for the purpose of on-the-scene testing of individuals suspected of DWI/DUI violations, vehicle safety checks, or for demonstration purposes.  Contact NOHS Traffic Safety Specialist John Ways.
