This project will consist of reconstruction of the existing 5-lane urban section between 25th and 31st Street. The existing 60’ wide roadway will be removed and replaced with 63’ wide doweled concrete pavement including integral curb. The roadway section will include 4 – 11’ thru lanes and a 15’ raised median with an 11’ left turn lane. Other new improvements include sidewalk, storm sewer, barrier curb, and lighting.
Continuous lighting will be constructed as part of the project. Traffic signal work will be done at 25th, 29th, and 31st Street.
Construction easements will be required. Minor right of way will be acquired.
Traffic will be maintained on N-10/2nd Ave. during construction. Heavy truck traffic will be detoured using 39th Street, 30th Avenue, US-30, and Avenue “N”. The roadway will be constructed in two phases with the southbound lanes being constructed first.
This project is currently scheduled for construction in 2012 and is expected to take 6 months to complete. (135 working days)
The project cost is currently estimated at $2,200,000 (2010 dollars).
